Pomp and colour as Machakos Institute of Technology celebrates the 11^th graduation ceremony

It was all celebration at the 11^th graduation ceremony of Machakos Institute of Technology. The ceremony held on Friday, 21^st October, 2022was presided over by David Nyamu the Marketing Director – Equity Bank. Over 550 students graduated and were awarded Certificates and Diplomas in various programmes. The ceremony was witnessed by the Board of Governors, members of staff, thousands of parents, students and invited guests.

In her address to the congregation the Principal, Madam Judy Kyania enumerated the many achievements the institution had accomplished in the last 5 years. She encouraged the graduands to enroll for the next level. She noted that the road ahead after college will not be easy; there will be challenges and obstacles; but asked them not to give up.

The Chief Guest encouraged the graduands to go out there and practice what they had learned. He noted that MIT was a respected institution in the country. He told the graduands that there may be moments when you believe that you are alone, and that you have no way of getting out. But remember, you are never alone in this journey, we are all venturing out on this journey together. And remember, you have made it through the last 3 years of college to get here, don’t stop now. When reaching your goals in the future it will not be easy, and that does not mean you give up and take the easier option. Push yourself and know you can do it. He was able to assist to Launch the Institute’s 3^rd strategic plan (2022- 2027).

As he concluded he asked the congregation to sing a song by Kathy Troccoli – “Go Light Your World”. The song was very inspiring.

Despite the colorful ceremony, some graduands expressed fears of not getting jobs as they move out to compete for positions in the job market.
