MIT Director Extends Generosity with Ksh 100,000 Bursary to Needy Students

In a remarkable act of generosity and compassion, Machakos Institute of Technology Director, Mr. Benjamin Mutie, today handed over a Ksh 100,000 chute to support needy students across various departments. The bursary aims to ease the financial burden for students who face challenges in meeting their academic expenses, ensuring that no dream is cut short due to lack of fees.

The MIT Bursary Fund, which began over 10 years ago, continues to make a lasting impact by supporting dozens of deserving students every year. Over the past decade, this initiative has become a lifeline for many, reaffirming the Institute’s belief that education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background.

The presentation, held at the MIT main campus, was attended by Principal Ms. Judy Kyania and Deputy Principal Mr. K. Mbae, who both commended the Director’s unwavering commitment to empowering students through education.

In his address, Mr. Mutie encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and determined, reminding them that education is the key to transforming lives.

He further revealed plans to increase the bursary margin in the coming years, allowing more deserving students to access financial assistance and pursue their studies without interruption.

Two grateful recipients of the bursary, Tito Kilonzo from the Hospitality Department and Cynthia Nduku from the Social Work Department expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of all beneficiaries.

Cynthia thanked the Director for his selflessness, saying the support would enable her to complete her training with peace of mind. Tito on his part, described the gesture as “a blessing that renews our hope and determination to succeed.”

Through such enduring initiatives, MIT continues to demonstrate that education is not just about learning but also uplifting communities, changing lives, and giving hope for a better tomorrow.

Clearly you have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.
