MIT Sports Day 2025: A Celebration of Team Spirit and Talent
The Machakos Institute of Technology (MIT) held its much-anticipated Sports Day on 26th
September 2025 at Machakos Boys Grounds, bringing together students and staff for a thrilling
day of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The event showcased not only physical
prowess but also the unity and vibrant spirit that defines the MIT community.
All departments turned up in full force, participating actively across various sporting disciplines
including football, volleyball, handball, basketball, athletics, javelin, shot put, and discus. The
grounds buzzed with energy as students cheered for their teams, turning the day into a festival of
color, excitement, and friendly rivalry.
In the soccer category, the Hospitality Department claimed victory among the men, while the
Teachers Training College (TTC) ladies’ team took home the top spot with their impressive
performance. On the volleyball courts, Electrical Engineering dominated in the men’s category,
and once again, TTC showed their might by winning in the ladies’ division.
The Mechanical Engineering team displayed great strength and strategy to clinch the handball
title, while Electrical Engineering proved their versatility by emerging winners in the field
events, notably in javelin and shot put. In athletics, the ladies from TTC sprinted their way to
victory, adding another trophy to their growing collection.
The highlight of the day came during the awards ceremony, where the winning teams were
honored with trophies and celebrated for their dedication, teamwork, and sporting excellence.
MIT’s Sports Day 2025 was more than just a competition, it was a reminder that learning goes
beyond classrooms. It was a day of unity, fun, and pride, embodying MIT’s commitment to
nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel both in skills and in spirit.
