Machakos Institute of Technology Marks Its 14th Graduation in Grand Style
The Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, was a sea of joy and color on 24th October 2025, as Machakos Institute of Technology (MIT) held its 14th Graduation Ceremony, a memorable celebration of academic achievement, resilience, and growth.
The ceremony, which brought together MIT and its sister institutions — MIT Teachers Training College (TTC) and Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development (KISWCD) — saw a total of 424 graduands awarded with Certificates and Diplomas in various disciplines.
The auspicious occasion was graced by Dr. Peter Kiuluku, Director General of ESAMI, who served as the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with inspiring speeches from student leaders and the Principals. MIT Principal Mrs. Judy Kyania, expressed heartfelt gratitude to parents and guardians for their continued trust and support. She proudly reflected on MIT’s remarkable journey from a modest 300 students in 2008 to an impressive over 16,000 graduates to date a clear testament to the institution’s growth and excellence in technical and professional training.
In his address, Mr. Benjamin Mutie, the Director of the Institution, urged the graduands to pursue further education and continue expanding their horizons.
The Board of Governors Chair, Dr. Bernard Muia, later invited the Chief Guest to deliver his keynote address, accompanied by a moving performance from the AIC Bomani Band.
Dr. Kiuluku, in his captivating speech, commended the unity and collaboration among the three sister institutions and congratulated the graduands for reaching this milestone. He encouraged them to uphold MIT’s values of integrity, professionalism and teamwork noting that character remains a lifelong asset that never loses value.
He further challenged the graduands to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the emerging opportunities of the digital era. “AI has brought more opportunities than any other time in history,” he said, urging them to remain adaptable and innovative. He reminded them that true success lies in lifting others as you rise and strongly cautioned against the lure of drug abuse, calling it a “temporary escape that steals your future.”
The highlight of the day was the presentation of Certificates and Diplomas, followed by awards to the best-performing students and outstanding leaders who received tokens of appreciation from the Chief Guest.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, closing prayers, and the formal dissolution of the congregation by the Institution’s Director. The event was a joyous and colorful affair, a proud moment for graduands, parents, staff, and the entire MIT fraternity.
As the sun set over Kenyatta Stadium, one message lingered in the air: the journey of success has just begun.
