What types of student accommodation are available?

We have Hostels separate for male and female students. Majority are shared cubicles with high security throughout.

Is off-campus housing easy to find?

Yes, since we have partnered with a number of hostel providers who accommodate our students at affordable rates.

What are the entry requirements for Course?

What documents are required for my application?

  • Duly filled and signed application form
  • Copies of all transcripts, KCSE,( Diplomas & Certificates if any)
  • Two (2) recent, colored passport size photographs
  • Copy of national I.D/Passport
  • Copy of birth certificate

How long does it take to receive a decision after applying?

Immediately we confirm you qualify for the course you applied for by giving/sending us your KCSE results or other necessary Certificates / transcripts.

Can I apply for more than one course?

We advise one to take one long course at a time given how demanding the courses are. However we encourage all to incorporate short courses which add value to their academic and professional journey.

What is the campus like?

Campus life is usually a mix of academics, social activities, and personal independence. Most days include classes, study sessions, There are plenty of clubs, sports teams, and events to get involved in, so there’s always something happening, whether it’s a society meet-up, a guest talk, or club practice.

Weekends tend to be more relaxed, with students hanging out, or attending campus events. You’ll also find that campus life gives you a good balance of freedom and support. There’s always help available if you need it, but you’re also encouraged to manage your own schedule and responsibilities. Overall, the atmosphere is friendly, active, and community-focused, making it easy to feel at home.

What facilities are available (library, sports, student union)?

We have a well-equipped physical library, WiFi in all our campuses to facilitate research and personal studies. We also have a student’s union office for our elected student leaders and grounds for sports practice.

What are the most popular clubs and societies?

We have religious clubs like C.U, Y.C.S, Muslim Association as well as others like Karate club, Football, Basketball, Dance and Modelling club. You can join any of the clubs for free through the Dean of student’s office.

How safe is the campus and surrounding area?

Very safe with security personnel 24/7 and CCTV cameras for the same. We are located at the heart of Machakos town which has a reputation of being safe.

What career services are available to students?

Career guidance is offered prior to admission and throughout your campus journey through the departments and even having professionals come and give insights on career opportunities.

How does the institute support internships or placements?

Through the attachment and liaisons office we help our students get attachment placements and some even land jobs later on.

Are there opportunities to work while studying?

Yes. We offer work opportunities especially for students struggling to pay their fees. This program helps keep them in school thus reducing the rate of drop outs due to fee challenges.

  1. SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCE

What scholarships are available for students?

We have the annual MIT Bursary open for all. MIT students are eligible to apply for the CDF, NGAAF, County bursaries as well as NGO’s and well-wishers.

How do I apply for scholarships?

For the MIT bursary you will visit the Deans office where the bursary forms are issued. The government based scholarships we recommend one to visit your local chief for assistance on the procedure.

Can I pay my tuition fees in installments?

Yes, this is allowed with guidance by the Finance office on the minimum installments allowed.

Are there part-time job opportunities on campus?

Yes. We offer part-time work opportunities especially for students struggling to pay their fees. This program helps keep them in school thus reducing the rate of drop outs due to fee challenges.

  1. SOCIAL AND COMMUNITY

Are there opportunities to volunteer or join community projects?

We normally have projects like visiting Children’s homes where we encourage students to be part of.

How easy is it to make friends at the college?

Making friends is usually pretty easy once you get involved. Most students are in the same situation, new environment and new people and so everyone is open to meeting others. Joining clubs, study groups, or college events helps a lot, and you’ll naturally connect with people who share your interests.

What events take place during Welcome Week or Orientation?

Orientation week is designed to help new students settle in, get comfortable with campus life, and meet people. Typically, you’ll attend welcome sessions where staffs introduce you to the college’s services, rules, and expectations. There are campus tours, and sessions explaining how to use the library, online portals, and support services. You’ll also meet academic advisors and get guidance on your course schedule.

What student support services are available?

Among them are Academic support, Counseling and wellbeing services, Career guidance services, IT and library support and Student life support.

  1. STUDYING AT THE COLLEGE

How are classes and lectures structured?

We have normal learning classes and labs, workshops for different courses which are mainly used during practical lessons.

How easy is it to switch courses or majors?

There is a formal procedure followed to allow this. You will first visit the Deputy Principals office and begin the process which will include consent from parent, guardian or individual paying fees. A form is filled to pave way for the switch.

What is the average class size?

A Class can hold a minimum of 25 students.

What support is available for students who are struggling academically?

Subject tutors go an extra mile to assist them as well as groping them with the stronger ones in discussion groups to help them.

How do I access counseling services?

We have a counseling office which is accessible through the Dean of students.

What support is available for students with disabilities?

Our ABC Campus has a ramp to allow for wheelchairs. (HELP)

What examinations do you offer?

 We offer a variety among them KNEC, KASNEB, NITA, CDACC, ABMA, ICM & ICLD.

What modes of study are available?

We offer full time, part time/evening, weekend, Distance learning program and online learning in the hope we can accommodate not just form four leavers but also working professionals juggling work and study responsibilities.

Can I defer my studies?

Yes this allowed with valid reason(s) proven. You will visit the Office of the Deputy Principal for assistance and guidance. We have forms filled to allow for this.
