DPBC 3500: DIPLOMA IN PASTORAL AND BIBLICAL COUNSELLING

This is a one and half year course. By the end of this course, the trainee should be able to:

• Identify the need and differentiate when to offer pastoral counseling, biblical counseling and pastoral care
• Integrate biblical theories and psychological theories when counseling
• Identify the need and explain how to set-up counseling services in a church set-up
• Identify the rationale of African Traditional religion in counseling
• Generate new knowledge by conducting research study in an area of interest related to faith and/spirituality
• Offer guidance and counseling services in a church and other settings
• Understand the ethical considerations in counseling and incorporate them in their practice.

DPBC 3515: Old Testament themes

DPBC 3516: New Testament themes

DPBC 3517: Integration of biblical & secular theories.

DPBC 3518: Palliative care and counselling

DPBC 3519: Project in a church set up

DPBC 3520: Practicum in a church set up

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum qualifications are KCSE C- or KCE Div. 2 or the equivalent Certificate in Community development, Social development, Social work, Community Health, Counseling and Psychology. Course open to Beginners, Development workers, Social workers, Project managers and Fresh students
