Beauty Pageant

Everyone has a gift. Unfortunately, not all talents are tapped, they therefore go to waste. Its for this reason that MIT held its first beauty pageant this weekend of 21st August 2009 in partnership with Ikuuni Hotel, Post Bank – Machakos Branch,Telkom Home of Orange and Mbaitu FM at Ikuuni Hotel. The purpose of the pageant was to discover, embrace and nurture talent.
Our contributions;

• Publicity – Mbaitu FM, Telkom the Home of Orange and Machakos Institute of Technology
• Refreshments – Post Bank – Machakos Branch
• Venue, Public Address System, a DJ – Ikuuni Hotel
• Prizes –Telkom Home of Orange, Post Bank and Machakos Institute of Technology
• Preparation of Contestants: Machakos Institute f Technology
• Organisation of the event: Machakos Institute f Technology

- Mr and Miss MIT 2009

The main category was to identify Mr. and Miss MIT. Students were however encouraged to come up with creative categories for which the best performing would be awarded and they came up with the following in addition:

• Dramatized poems
• Skits/Plays
• Dances (Single and Group)
• Songs

The panel of judges was drawn from Post Bank, Ikuuni Hotel, Telkon Home of Orange and an independent consultant.
The pageant kicked off at 7.30 pm till dawn.

Awards

• Most Active Distant Learner: Isaiah Kutoyi (Psychology and Counseling student)
• Best Dancer: Brian Musyoka (Counseling Psychology Student)
• Best Duo (Dancers): Grace Anyango Ouko (Community Health Student) & Eunice  Mwikali Mutwiwa (Social Work student)
• Best Publicity: Ben Mutie (Director)
• Best Coordinator: Wanyonyi (Dean of Students)
• Best Rapper/Singer: John Kasila (Information, Communication and Technology Student)

Mr. MIT
Winner: Victor Gitau Nthuli (Information, Communication and Technology Student)
He won the following:

• Scholarship of 5,000 from MIT
• Post Bank Account with an ATM and a deposit of 250/ from Post Bank
• Beauty Gift Hamper from Post Bank

1st Runner’s up: Jason Munyao (Information, Communication and Technology Student) He was awarded the following:

• Orange phone with a line
• Post Bank Account with an ATM and a deposit of 250/ from Post Bank

      
2nd Runner’s up: Brian Musyoka (Counseling Psychology Student) He was awarded the following:

• MIT T-shirt
• Post Bank Account with an ATM and a deposit of 250/ from Post Bank

Miss MIT
Winner:  Eunice Mwikali Mutwiwa (Social Work student)
She was awarded the following:

• Scholarship of 5,000 from MIT
