CECE 1300: CERTIFICATE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION

 

This is a one year course. At the end of the course the trainee should;

• Acquire and apply knowledge , skills and attitudes to develop relevant ECDE programmes
• Create activities that foster positive social interaction
• Acquire, adapt and apply technology in teaching and learning activities
• Identify and develop materials using locally available resources
• Enrich the child’s experience to enable him/her to cope better with primary school life
• Acquire knowledge and skills to enable the child to enjoy learning through play

CECE 1301:     Foundation and Management of ECD in Kenya

CECE 1302:     Introduction to Child Psychology, Child Growth and Development

CECE 1303:     Health Nutrition and Care

CECE 1304:     Early Childhood Development and Education, Curriculum and Instructional and Learning Approaches

CECE 1305:     Children with Special needs and Child Rights and protection

CECE 1306:     Guidance and Counselling

CECE 1307:     English Language, Lugha ya Kiswahili and Language activities

CECE 1308:     Mathematics Activities

CECE 1309:     Science activities and  Social Environment Activities

CECE 1310:     Music and Movement activities

CECE 1311:     Creative Art Activities and Physical Activities

CECE 1312:     General Knowledge, Religious Education and Materials Development

CECE 1313:     Introduction to Research and Community Development

CECE 1314:     Teaching practice

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum qualifications are KCSE D+   Or a pass in KCPE and 3 years teaching experience
